Lille (France) is a city situated in the northern part of the French nation. It comes fourth in terms of sizes from 3 major French cities, Paris, Lyon and Mersailles. The city is home to more than 200, 000 people.
The city is famous for Flemish-influenced architectural structures that the homes and buildings sport. The French city is also known for its three botanical gardens. The three botanical gardens found in Lille (France) are Jardin de la Faculte Pharmacie, Jardine botanique Nicolas Boulay and Jardin des Plantes de Lille. Jarden des Plantes de Lille is the only botanical garden that’s owned by the municipality. The other two is owned by universities.
As a municipal park, Jardin des Plantes de Lille is open to the public. It is made to resemble that of pleasure parks where people can take a walk around, checking into the different greens housed in it.
There are other things to do in Lille (France) other than go to its botanical gardens and marvel at the flora and fauna that have. Le Furent du Nord, the city’s and the European continent’s largest bookshop, is the place for the bookworms. In Lille, it can be found in Grand’ Place. And if you’re in the city for shopping, boutiques selling high-end clothing and accessories are in Rue de la Grande Chausse and Rue de la Monnaie. For antiques that are stamped with the Lille signature, the best place to be is the rue d’ Angleterre. As there are high-end shops, there, too, are flea markets in the city of Lille.
The French city is known for the modern-styled cathedral, the Notre-Dame de la Treille. It was only recently completed, particularly in the year 1999.
Flemish delicacies are abundant in this part of the world. For lunch, some of the recommended restaurants include 8 rue du Pas which is near Grand’ Place. It’s the perfect restaurant to crash into after browsing through shelves of books in Le Furent du Nord. For dinner, you can head onto the little pub-restaurants called ‘estaminets” in rue de Gand and Chez la Vieille. Recommended foods to eat are classic dishes that truly are Lille’s such as the Potje’vleesch and the Waterzoi.
Lille (France) is famous for its beers much like other European cities are. Dining and having fun are all what the city is about.
