Paris: More than just the City of Lights

Paris has taken its place as the most visited city in the entire world. It has been named as the City of Lovers, the City of Lights and so much more. It is the home of the one landmark that majority of the international populace could identify, which is the Eiffel Tower. It takes its seat as the primary home of haute de couture, placing Milan, etc. as secondary places for high fashion. Indeed the high class tourist life could only be fully realized in France, specifically Paris.

One should never miss the classical tourist sites in the City of Lights. First and foremost there’s the Eiffel Tower that is amazing to behold both day and night. What’s more is that one could take the tower’s elevator in order to see the city from an elevated point of view. The Arc de Triumph and its beautiful sidewalk with its manicured tree line is a nice place to walk to at night. The majestic Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral remains to be a standing witness to the French’s creativity that reaches up to their faith and worship. Sharing the same esteem as the Cathedral is the Sacre-Coeur Basilica. The largest museum in the world, the Louvre is worth the visit be it in a packaged tour or the days long comprehensive tour. In the museum one may behold the priceless products of aesthetic mastery and genius. This, of course, refers to the original copies of the Mona Lisa of Leonardo DaVinci and the statue of Venus de Milo. There are other museums other than the Louvre that holds collections other than the pieces of the past masters. For one, there are museums dedicated to outstanding artists like the Musee Picasso for Pablo Picasso and the Musee Rodin for Auguste Rodin. Modern art, middle ages and impressionist collections are kept in the Musee National d’Art Moderne, the Musee Cluny and the Musee d’Orsay respectively.

Although Paris is the one haven of high art, it isn’t only just that. For someone who wants a more holistic cultural experience outside of the city’s edifices, there’s the good old yet never outmoded Moulin Rouge. For the best French culinary experience, Le Lido is the one place to go to.

Paris is history, culture, cuisine, haute de couture, people, sights, places and others all in one. It is the one city that never fails to attract and satisfy. This is pretty much evident with the immense number of tourists that visit there every year. To get a rough picture, the Louvre caters to a staggering eight million tourists per year
