There are so many tourist destinations in Europe but only one stands above the rest, Italy is considered by many as the most alluring and the most complex place in Europe where travellers from all over the world would love to explore. No other place can be compared to Italy with its artistic legacy, industrialized, and modernized nation. Most of the traditions in Italy are mainly influenced by their religion which is Catholicism. Because of this, religious sites had been built and currently serve not only as a worshipping place but tourist spots at the same time. There is also a wide variety of activities for different kinds of tourists offered here in Italy.

The heart and soul of Catholicism is located here in Italy. One of the places that a tourist must visit is the St. Peter’s Basilica. The infamous religious site is located in Vatican City. Since it was built, the St. Peter’s Basilica had been the most holy site for Christians. So many things can be seen inside and outside St. Peter’s Basilica. In here, you will find the body of Pope John XXIII. It is situated under St. Jerome’s altar. The Pieta, made by the famous sculptor Michaelangelo, can also be found inside St. Peter’s Basilica.

But Italy is not just about churches and historical sites related to religion. It also offers entertainment especially during the Carnevale happening in Venice. This is where most locals and even non-locals don extravagant costumes as they parade down the street and go to the place called Piazza. This is where they simply pose for the tourists who wish to have a souvenir of their Italian trip. During the Carnevale, there are also lots of places on the streets where you can do your shopping. The most purchased items during the Carnevale are the special masks that are only available during the said event.
